Well, we're getting back into the swing of walking in the long term training for eventually running a 5K(Amanda).  This morning, we did 1.3 miles, but at a time of 32:11.  As time goes on, we'll get back into the swing of things.

great weekend

Well, I haven't been on here in a few days and there is a reason why...........I spent the weekend in Austin, TX.  I left Saturday morning and flew down to Austin and spent the weekend with Amanda and the kids at her mom and stepdad's house in Austin.  Amanda had actually left a week earlier to spend some time with her sister in Houston before driving onto Austin.  I want to thank Doug and Diane Rankin for opening their home to me and showing me some outstanding hospitality.  Doug took us on a tour of Austin and I got to see Darrell Royal Field at Memorial Stadium, the Frank Erwin Center, and the infamous University Tower.  We also went to the Texas History Museum.  Monday morning, we left around 5:30 and made that long drive back home.  After a stop at Amanda's doctor in McKinney and then some lunch afterwards, we got back on the road and got back to Beebe around 8:35 Monday evening.  It was a nice vacation, but like the saying goes, there is no place like home.

July 19

Today being July 19 is a bit of a weird day.  Four years ago today, I received a phone call that would change my life, as far as my life as a play by play announcer.  Since 1999, I had been the radio play by play voice of the Beebe Badgers.  I was looking forward to the upcoming season, when, on July 19, 2008, I received a phone call from then Crain Media-Searcy General Manager Jay Runyon informing me that I was being let go as the radio voice of the Badgers.  I can remember the feeling of shock, plus a little bit of anger, after hearing the news.  When I asked Jay why I was being let go, all he would tell me was that "I've got eyes and ears out there".  I suspect part of the reasoning was due to a post I had made on a high school messaging board called Fearless Friday back in February 2008, in which I criticized another announcer's job on a recent broadcast.  I will admit that my post wasn't the kindest that I could've wrote, however, it was not slanderous, as certain people alleged.  I won't get into the rest of that story, but I will say that I tried like the dickens to get my job back, without success.  As bad as that day was, there was a day about a month later that would make that tame.

Another reason why July 19 is a weird day is because today would've been my 15th wedding anniversary.  Before 2008, I never thought that I would be divorced.  However, after knowing what I know, especially about certain events, I know that I am better off now.  I can tell you that my life is so much better now, thanks to my wonderful girlfriend, Amanda.  She is, without a doubt, the most remarkable and strong woman that I have ever met.  I am so thankful that she is in my life and I look forward to our future together.

Well friends, Friday the 13th was a lucky and a good day, as far as Amanda and I walking.  We did 2.6 miles in 54:30.  Not the best time, but it was a nice morning to walk.

Good afternoon friends!!  Well, its been a few days since I have posted, but its been a good, but busy time for me.  Thursday was my birthday and it was a great day!  I enjoyed the wonderful dinner & dessert that Amanda fixed and enjoyed my presents.  I am very blessed and thankful to have my family and friends in my life.  Life is definitely good!!

Walking on 7-9-12

Well friends, the week got off to a great start, walking wise, as Amanda and I did 2.6 miles in 57:30.  Even though the pace wasn't as good, it was good that Amanda was able to do the 2.6 miles.  She was a bit sore and hurting, and that's why she took it easy.  Hopefully, we can get some good distances in this week and take advantage of the cooler weather!!

My posts on gas prices

I want to thank everyone who has been reading my posts in general, but especially about my posts on gas prices.  I want my readers to know where the cheapest gas is, because as we all know, gas is too freaking expensive!  There is no reason for gas to be as high as it is.  I do think it was rather interesting that on July 5, the price of gas here in central Arkansas, "mysteriously" jumped from 2.96 at most places to 3.19.  A couple of days ago, it has dropped as mysteriously as it increased, except in Beebe, where it has remained at 3.19/gallon.  I think the citizens of Beebe deserve an answer as to why gas not only stays so high, but also why it hasn't dropped like every place else around us.  Something doesn't smell right, that's for sure.

Not feeling too hot

I'm not sure if its food poisoning or a stomach bug, but I have to tell ya'll, I'm not feeling 100%.  Apparently, I'm on the 1-2 hour plan, haha.  The bad thing is Amanda is having stomach issues also, so hopefully, she won't have the same issues as I have been.  Regardless, it sucks going to the bathroom every hour, haha.

Milestone for Amanda

With the 2.0 miles that Amanda walked on Saturday morning, she did 10.5 miles walking for the week..........that is an awesome milestone!!!!  She is walking closer to that goal of walking/eventually running a 5K. Way to go Amanda!!!  Love you babe!!!

Good evening friends!!  Well, Amanda and I had another nice walk this morning, and this time, we picked up the pace.  We did 2.0 miles in 38:57, which is a 19 minute mile.  So far, for the week, Amanda has walked 8.5 miles and if we walk on Saturday morning, she should easily eclipse the ten mile mark.

Hey there and good morning friends!!!  I hope that everyone is having a great day.  I also hope that everyone enjoys this holiday and remember our servicemen and women.  Also, please remember that even though the city of Beebe is not under a burn ban, White County is.  Please, please, please refrain from shooting off fireworks tonight and even tomorrow.  I like fireworks also, but it isn't worth it.  Also, please do not drink and drive.  Have a designated driver!!!!  Its going to be a hot one today, so be careful out there.

Walking on 7-3-12

In walking today(Tuesday), we decided to go for a longer distance, so Amanda and I ended up walking 2.6 miles in 58:25.  Even though that may not sound like a great time, it was actually two minutes better than the last time we did 2.6 miles.  We managed to get out a little earlier, but it was a little more humid than it had been the past couple of days.

Friends, Amanda and I continue to get back on track as far as walking and hopefully running.  On Monday morning, we went for a shorter walk of 1.3 miles that we did in 32:45.  We got out early enough that it was relatively nice.  With this heat wave that we're dealing with, you almost have to get out in the morning.

Well friends, Amanda and I were able to resume our walking, despite the heat.  Its been so hot that you almost have to walk at nighttime or very early in the morning.  Well, she and I were able to get a nice early morning walk.  We did 2.6 miles this morning, be it at 60:25.  Its good to get a nice walk in.
